The brig of the trade wind route (19th century)

The Aurora does not reproduce a specific ship: it is an Occre design faithful to the brigs that linked Spain with the Americas through the nineteenth century. Her rig — square sails on both masts — was made for the trade winds, the steady westerly push out of the Canaries. Fast, handy and worked by a small crew, these merchantmen were the packhorses of the overseas trade. The Aurora condenses that whole age into a single hull.
