The small boat of the greatest voyage (19th century)

The falucho was the workhorse of the Spanish Mediterranean: a small hull, a great lateen sail and a trade for every need — coastal traffic, mail, fishing, customs patrol. When Spain lost its merchant fleet after the independence of its American colonies, it was these modest sailing craft that dared to keep the thread with the loyal Antilles. Tradition gives the San Juan the first of those crossings — and the name it earned for it: El Glorioso. A small boat, an enormous job.

Following the War of Independence, after Spain had lost her American colonies, merchant marine ships all but disappeared from the peninsula, leaving only small coastal sailing boats behind to re-establish the routes to the Antilles.

Through the Royal Decree issued by Charles III, trade was re-opened with those colonies that remained faithful and it was the felucca, “San Juan” (El Glorioso), that made the first voyage.

The reproduction of the model is faithful to the original. Our model kits will provide you with all the elements necessary to ensure the reality of your model ship, down to the smallest imaginable naval detail.

Wood: Fine hardwoods of several species, chosen according to what each part has to do: structure, hull planking, deck and visible finishes. Laser-cut sheets for a precise fit.
Photo-etched brass: Photochemically etched brass parts for the finest detail, impossible to reproduce in wood.
Zamak castings: Detail parts such as cannons, anchors and deck fittings, cast in zamak for a solid, realistic finish.
Cotton: Sewn sails and threads of different thicknesses for the standing and running rigging.
