Su cometido fue el de acompañar al velero Cristoforo Colombo en las labores de adiestramiento, hasta el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Su motto es: «Non chi comincia ma quel che persevera» («No el que empieza, sino el que persevera»).
El Amerigo Vespucci es un velero de la Marina Militare, llamado así por el
explorador Amerigo Vespucci. Su puerto base es La Spezia, Italia, y está en uso como buque escuela.
En 1925, la Regia Marina encargó dos barcos escuela con un diseño del teniente general Francesco Rotundi del Cuerpo de Ingeniería de la Armada italiana, inspirado en el estilo de los grandes barcos de línea de 74 cañones de finales del siglo XVIII. Los primero, el Cristoforo Colombo, se puso en servicio en 1928 y fue utilizado por la Marina italiana hasta 1943.
Aparte de durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el Amerigo Vespucci ha sido continuamente activo. La mayoría de sus cruceros de entrenamiento son en aguas europeas, pero también ha navegó a América del Norte y del Sur, y navegó por el Pacífico. En 2002, emprendió un viaje alrededor del mundo.
Memorable fue el encuentro en el Mediterráneo con el portaaviones estadounidense USS Independence en 1962, parpadeando con la luminosa señal: «¿Quién eres tú?», que responde: «Navigo Amerigo Vespucci, Marina italiana». Los estadounidenses

¡Un barco precioso! Esta siendo un gran desafío, pero poco a poco voy avanzando. La timonera me ha costado bastante, y son muchos botes para pintar sobre metal. Ahora llega lo verdaderamente complicado, una jarcia tremenda con pocas cabillas bajo los palos. Si consigo superarlo añadiré mas fotos.
Every build is a learning process, I had to re run planking at the front toward the bow as it wasn’t working correctly. I’m looking forward to adding the details. There needs to be a stronger system to fix the davits to the hull, just gluing them is insufficient. Still a very enjoyable build

Un hobby per pochi, visto il tempo e l’impegno che richiede. Nel mio caso, è stato il regalo che ho ricevuto dai miei familiari per i miei cinquant’anni. Ne ho quasi cinquantatré, ora che il lavoro si è concluso. Occre è stata una garanzia per i ricambi e l’assistenza. Grazie.

The Amerigo Vespucci is my second OcCre model, and I couldn't be enjoying it more! The parts, instruction and videos have made this and awesome experience. Started the standing rigging today, and it is progressing nicely. Hope to finish by April. I love the OcCre products and look forward to my next project, maybe the Santisima Trinidad!
¡Por fin! He abierto la caja, Estaba con los últimos detalles del "Gorch Fock" y me resistía a abrirla hasta no terminar el proyecto anterior. Super bateau ! Très heureux de cette magnifique construction avec une bateau plein de détails, les instructions sont très bien avec les vidéos YouTube en plus qui sont d’une super aide (pour les inexpérimentés comme moi j’avoue que des pas à pas avec photos détaillés pour le gréement n’aurait pas été de refus pour obtenir encore une meilleure qualité). Mais sinon quel plaisir j’ai pris !! Merci beaucoup et place aux prochaines

Amerigo Vespucci is my 4th kit from Occre and as usual the instructions and photos are excellent. really loving this kit 2 months into the build, and its really going well
I have just finished planking the hull. It went much easier than my first build - HMS Beagle. It's probably due to a combination of the experience I gained on building the first ship and the fact that the Amerigo Vespucci hull is double the size of the Beagle. The printed instructions and the videos are fantastic.
Greetings from Western Cape, South Africa. Busy building the Amerigo Verspucci, the most beautiful boat and definitely my most beautiful model ship. This is my 7th boat and the 2nd from Occre. Really loving it! Occre is by far the best quality kits, best instructions and their after sales service is par excellence. I won't be stopping here. The Amerigo Vespucci was another great kit from Occre. I am still a novice (have been building these models for less than 2 years) but the Occre kits are truly the best. The quality of the materials, excellent instructions and photos, and support I have found to be unmatched among outher companies. Occre provides step by step videos of the build process which can answer many beginner questions. There parts support is also first rate, replacing parts free of charge no mattter whether they were missing or I lost or broke them. I've also built the Occre - Albatros, Endeavour, Endurance, and Titanic and all were wonderful kits. I presently have the Terror and Erebus "on deck". I've built a few other ships form other companies, but Occre is my favorite. Thanks Occre, for providing me an interesting and fulfilling hobby in retirement. Vince Lepore, Jr., MD

J'arrive à peu près à la fin de la coque après environ 50h de travail. J'adore c'est vraiment chouette, je complète par quelques commandes Occre pour avoir tout le matériel nécessaire Hâte d'arriver au bout mais je prend déjà beaucoup de plaisir !

I haven't started this project yet, because I'm working on something else. But I really wanted to build this ship. Thanks to Occre for the opportunity to buy it at a discount. I can only share my opinion about the delivery. It was very fast, well packed and arrived without damage. When I start the project, I will share photos of the work in progress.

Después del unboxing, aparentemente todo correcto. La entrega ha ido perfecta. Deseando terminar con el Beagle para comenzar este nuevo proyecto. Promete nuevos e interesantes retos, tenia gana de subir el nivel, a ver como va.
Till now the kit is ok. Material is perfektno. The explanation is a dificult according the sails.
