Cinco galeones partieron el 13 de diciembre de 1577 desde el puerto de Plymouth en Inglaterra. Capitaneados por Francis Drake con el galeón The Pelican.
Cuando la expedición cruzaba el Estrecho de Magallanes, The Pelican fue renombrado The Golden Hind por Drake en honor a uno de los patrones del viaje Sir Christopher Hatton, cuyo escudo de armas tenía una cierva dorada.
El Golden Hind es conocido por su circunvalación de la Tierra durante los años 1577 - 1580.
Después de 40.000 millas recorridas, en 1580 Drake regresó a Inglaterra con tesoros y tierras conquistadas. En 1581, la Reina Isabel I le concedió a Drake el título de Sir en la cubierta del Golden Hind.

A fun process, sometimes its hard to guess what to do as some instructions are incomplete. overall i'll buy from Occre again.
Very nice model to work with.Completed it in about 2 weeks.Some guide informations could be improved and added.You should add inner deck and make fake cannons real ones so it can be made visible inside as i did :D I did go by my own color and detail design becouse i didnt want to have stock model like all others 4/5 couse it can have some things better as stock kit

I have been disappointed with the assembly instructions that were in the Golden Hind kit. I have been trying to follow along but have found some gaps that lead me to have to guess at what to do or try to find a YouTube video. There is one YouTube video (ModelShip TV) I am using but he is experienced and making many changes to your instruction. One specific area is doing the Deadeyes. The instructions show a picture but no directions on how to assemble it to the body of the ship. Page F has a lot going on with very limited direction other that 1 picture. I have sent a few emails to ask other questions, which were answered and appreciated. I am hoping to get through this assembly but I am sure it will be a challenge. Before I purchase my next model, I will make sure there is a good YouTube to follow. A bit frustrating and surprising especially since my first model, the Polaris, was very easy to follow. I certainly wouldn’t recommend the Golden Hind to a beginner or as a second model. I like OcCre and will try a 3rd one from you but very disappointed on this one. Robert Argent.

Great build for beginners and fun ship to learn about. I really enjoyed this one, and can't wait to start on the others I got.

Hello, I am very pleased to post my review of building the Occre Glodenhind. This was my first time building a wooden ship model, so I looked up the quality and reputation of wooden ship products and chose Occre, which is recommended by many experts. However, building it turned out to be very different in difficulty and method from the plastic models I was familiar with. There were many cases where I had to make parts myself, unlike plastic models where the parts are exactly specified. Being my first time, I made many mistakes and repeatedly glued and detached parts. Especially, the curved part of the lower hull required challenging tasks such as increasing humidity and temperature to bend it. When I became somewhat familiar, I ended up damaging some parts by mistake, and there was no other way to obtain them, which was troublesome. I contacted Occre service center, and they kindly supported the missing parts. The quality was really good and the service was friendly. I felt once again why many experts recommend Occre products. The picture below is Captain Drake's Golden Hind, which I made. I am very pleased with my first creation, which I think turned out quite splendid. I also highly recommend Occre products to others and would like to thank the Occre customer service center once again.
Was für ein schöner Bausatz. Ich habe immer Plastikmodellbau gemacht und wollte mal was anderes machen. Ich habe dann die Golden Hind von OCCRE gesehen und war direkt hin und weg. Es war für mich sehr ungewohnt mit Holz zu Arbeiten hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Die Bauanleitung hatte ein, zwei Fehler aber man schaft es zu Bauen. Die Takelage war die größte Herausforderung. Aber mit der Zeit schafft man das auch. Es ist im Takeleage Plan auch sehr gut beschrieben. Ich habe jetzt die Essex im Auge mal sehen, wie das schiff wird. Ich werde mich dazu melden.
Estoy a mitad de forrar el carenado y todavía me queda bastante trabajo, pero va quedando muy bien bajo mi opinión La otra maqueta no la he empezado todavía pero prefiero terminar esta completamente.
Gran modelo de iniciación el Golden Hind, estoy disfrutando mucho con su construcción y calidad del kit. Os pongo una foto, todavía no está terminado pero el resultado me anima a realizar nuevos proyectos. Saludos
It was my first model ship and I think it turned out well. I adjusted a few things on her to make her more historically accurate and I think it benefited her. However, what I consider insufficient is the building instructions themselves, a lot of inaccuracies and missing descriptions. My book about the construction of historic ships helped me a lot. According to the instructions, it would be quite confusing without her.

This was my first wooden ship build and what a great model it was. I’m really pleased with the results, considering that I don’t have any experience prior to this. The instructions are a bit brief and have a few mistakes, but nothing major. I really appreciated youtube instructions on the ship buccaneer, because the models are quite similar. All the materials are high quality, and the build is enjoyable. In the future I might pick up another occre model!!

So far so good. Everything fits together nicely, and I’m looking forward to the end product. The visual instructions are pretty clear. This is my first model ship, so I’m learning a lot as I go!

I have been a woodworker for over 40 years. However, I have never tried a wooden ship model. After doing much research on different model kits, I selected OcCre because of their unsurpassed expectations within the hobby. My mode of the Golden Hind arrived and out of the box, I was impressed with the quality and attention to detail. After a few false starts, I am now on track with most of the second planking completed. I am thoroughly enjoying this new hobby. The OcCre customer service is second to none. My inexperience destroyed one piece entirely. Then due to a very large learning curve, I needed to reorder that part as well as a few of the second planks. After filling out the online request for new parts. I was contacted within a few hours with verification that the request had been received and fulfilled. There is none better tha OcCre.
It is my first experience for ship model assembling. Golden Hind looks wery well. I have found during assembling one unsuitable part as the Frame A7, picture is attached. Right side is already corrected. Left side needs to be corrected as per red template. Please recheck this set to avoid mistakes in future. Brgds, Valentyn
Non ancora montato (lavoro nel garage e al momento fa ancora molto freddo!), ma il modello è ben fatto e appena la temperatura lo consentirà mi metterò al lavoro!
Très belle maquette agréable à fabriquer pour (re)commencer cette passion car elle est accompagnée d’une notice complète et claire permettant de se (familiariser) avec les différentes étapes de sa fabrication de la coque aux mâts en passant par les canons et autres « accessoires ». En sus, une biche dorée en guise de figure de proue !
I am missing the wood veneer for the hull I only have about half that's needed.

Tienen poca precisión muchas de las piezas las fotos e instrucciones son muy pocas hay piezas como la parte de abajp de la quilla por ejemplo que podía venir de una sola pieza los papeles para ciertas decoraciones así como piezas de metal que van pegadas y que tienen muchos agujeros tenían que ser por una cara con pegamento y un papelito para poderlas pegar sin problemas y el costo no variaría prácticamente el precio de las pinturas y tintes que son 10 muy pequeñas son carísimas pues sale cada una por mas de 5 € cuando se encuentran en muchos sitios a la mitad o menos de precio lo digo porque he comprado algunas de ese tamaño a mitad de precio y algunas cosas mas que no quiero extenderme .muchas gracias por su atención

muy buen producto, completo con excelentes materiales, quizás mejoraría un poco las descripciones para la construcción. No obstante estoy muy satisfecho con la compra.
Golden Hind
Golden Hind transformado a "La Perla Negra" Hola, amigos: Estoy construyendo el Golden Hind" pero adaptándolo al "Perla Negra" de Piratas del Caribe. Es un regalo para mi nieto Jorge, fan de esta saga. Le he puesto iluminación interior, que le llegara a los dos fanales de popa. Y he perforado los ventanales parta dejar pasar la luz. Ahora voy a comenzar a pintar el casco, con lo que empezaré a enviar fotos de la construcción. Saludos cordiales. Claudio J.
