Terror y Erebus de la Expedición perdida de Franklin
El HMS Terror y el HMS Erebus fueron dos barcos que formaron parte de la Expedición Perdida de Sir John Franklin al Ártico en 1845. Ambos barcos eran tecnológicamente avanzados para la época y se les equipó con motores a vapor para navegar por las aguas árticas. La expedición buscaba encontrar el Paso del Noroeste, pero se quedó atrapada en el hielo y nunca regresó. Después de varios años sin noticias de los barcos, se inició una búsqueda que llevó a su descubrimiento en 2014 y 2016. Aunque se encontraron restos de la expedición, nunca se determinó la causa exacta de su fracaso, lo que ha llevado a muchas teorías y especulaciones. El Erebus y el Terror son recordados como símbolos de la exploración ártica y la valentía de los exploradores que se aventuraron en un territorio desconocido y peligroso.
Historia del barco HMS Terror
En el año 1845, al mando del capitán Sir John A. Franklin, las naves Terror y Erebus emprendieron la expedición en busca del famoso paso del Noroeste. Fueron las primeras naves provistas de motores auxiliares, estaban reforzadas con láminas de hierro para protegerlas del hielo y tenían provisiones para tres años de navegación.Fueron vistas por última vez cerca de Groenlandia antes de desaparecer en el laberinto del hielo ártico.
Con la colaboración de un cazador inuit de la aldea ártica de Gjoa Haven, el 26 de septiembre de 2016 se encontraron los restos del H.M.S. Terror, desaparecido hace 168 años. El Terror se encuentra bien conservado. Se han obtenido imágenes de la cubierta y del interior donde se pueden ver objetos y partes intactas de la nave.
Continua el misterio de la trágica expedición de Franklin, el estudio arqueológico de los restos del Terror puede que ayuden a resolverlo.

Love the fact that ship has a canadian story.
Projekt beendet! Es hätte immer ertwas besser klappen können, aber ich bin zufrieden. Die Qualität der Bausatzes war gut. Ich habe für die Terror ca. 7 Monate benötigt. Es hat von Anfang bis Ende viel Spaß gemacht. Mal schauen ob und wie es weitergeht. Gruss Andress
My first attempt at a wooden ship. I was given the opportunity to build the HMS Terror from a good friend who owns a hobby store. Couldn’t turn it down. Great challenge. A lot of video referencing, Terror group help etc. Enjoying the build with frustration, laughs, mistakes and satisfaction. Looking forward to completing and hopefully by a pirate ship. Great prod.
Die HMS Terror zu bauen hat mir, 3 Jahre lang, viel Freude bereitet! Der Bausatz ist von hervorragender Qualität, mit sehr hochwertigen Materialien (abgesehen von den segeln. Die sind gruselig). Sie schmückt in ihrer Vitrine jetzt mein Wohnzimmer. Der nächste Bausatz, die Endurance, ist schon im Arbeit!

Der Bausatz wurde schnell geliefert. Inzwischen bin ich seit ca 4 Wochen am bauen. Es macht super Spaß, was sicher auch an der tollen Qualität des Bausatzes liegt. Nicht immer wird alles perfekt, das liegt dann aber an mir.🤣😪 Gruß Andreas

The correspondence between the part and the drawing can be seen in the photo... I immediately requested a replacement for the defective part, but there was no response from the store. I'll most likely have to try making the part myself. It's a shame the drawing isn't a 1:1 scale, making it difficult to calculate the proportions.

After receiving a gift from Xavier Alvarez and going through various things, I wasn’t able to continue the work for a while, but now I’ve started again. ^^ I plan to keep working without interruption until it’s completed. ^^
Die HMS Terror war mein erstes Occre Schiff und ich bin begeistert. Für den Bau habe ich etwa 6 Monate benötigt und war dabei dauerhaft motiviert das Schiff fertig zu bekommen um es gebührend auszustellen.
Wunderschönes Modell, nach meinem Geschmack etwas verändert. Mein 1. Schiffmodell. Derzeit habe ich die Erebus am Werken. Bilder folgen. LG. an das gesamte OCCRE Team.

Love it! After almost a year, I finally finished it, great model!
So this was listed as a free addition to my order. When the box arrived it was not there. I reached out to Occre and asked about it. My original order was a black Friday special and they informed me that the free tool was not compatible with it and it was awarded as a mistake. So I am taking off stars because that was a mistake on their part a bit frustrating and they didn't say anything at the time. I am however happy with the fast response and the explanation. Technical glitches happen and black Friday was busy and they were prioritising shipping, which was quick.
I love it. The HMS Terror is my second Occre build up. My first one was the Endurance and I started the Terror project right after I finished the Endurance. Great beautiful product. Thank you Occre for the wonderful experience.
And so it begins. The kit arrived really quickly and looks great. Parts are all well organised and the paper and online tutorials are all pretty accessible. This is going to be a joint project with my partner and I and we are looking forward to the challenge.
Nice model to build. Occre did their research when planning this model as the plans reflect the plans from the Greenwich Naval Archives. I added the ice bridge to the model as seen on the plans as well as two cannon based upon discoveries when the wreck of the Terror was explored.

First ship purchased from OCCRE The HMS Terror Built by Shawn Flannigan In Ontario Canada This is an Awesome kit. The on line video's provided execellent tips on building. Getting additional parts or extra wood from OCCRE was very quick and the customer service team is very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
Thank you, Occre! Nothing to complain so far, enjoying the experience of building this 3rd ship from you. The only thing that I found that could be improved - even though this is not a minus since I suppose that it comes out of the try to stay as low as possible with the kit price - are the small boats which are made of metal, and which would have been better to be made from wood like the ones in HMS Beagle kit. In case of HMS Terror, I chose to plate them with sapeli wood to give them a more realistic look.
This is my very first wood ship model but definitely not my last! Very impressed with the quality of this model in every area. Shipping was also very quick! Highly recommend!
