Este kit de modelismo naval en madera de OcCre te invita a construir, pieza a pieza, la embarcación del hombre que capturó más de 400 navíos en solo tres años y marcó el final de la Edad de Oro de la piratería.
Historia del Royal Fortune, el barco de Black Bart
En 1719, un marinero galés fue capturado por piratas. No quería esa vida. Pero cuando la tripulación lo eligió capitán, Bartholomew Roberts no miró atrás. En apenas tres años se convirtió en el pirata más exitoso de la historia, capturando más embarcaciones que ningún otro antes o después.
Roberts no encajaba en el molde del pirata. Mientras otros bebían ron hasta caer, él prefería el té. Vestía seda carmesí, sombrero con pluma y una cadena de oro con una cruz de diamantes que robó al mismísimo rey de Portugal. Fue temido desde Brasil hasta Terranova. Creó uno de los códigos piratas más estrictos que se conocen. Y diseñó su propia bandera: él mismo de pie, espada en mano, sobre las cabezas de sus enemigos de Barbados y Martinica — marcadas con las iniciales ABH y AMH.
El nombre Royal Fortune no fue exclusivo de un solo barco. Roberts rebautizó así a cada nave que tomaba como insignia. No era solo un nombre: era un pacto. Porque para él, la fortuna no era un accidente. Era algo que se conquistaba.
Su final llegó el 5 de febrero de 1722 frente al cabo López, cuando una metrallada del HMS Swallow lo alcanzó en la primera andanada. Su tripulación arrojó su cuerpo al mar antes de que las autoridades pudieran capturarlo. Ni en la muerte dejó que otros decidieran su destino. Muchos historiadores consideran que la Edad de Oro de la piratería terminó con él.
Datos que pocos conocen:
En su asalto más audaz, Roberts se acercó a una flota portuguesa de 42 buques haciéndose pasar por un mercante francés. Se llevó 40.000 monedas de oro y una cruz de diamantes destinada al rey de Portugal. En Terranova capturó 22 barcos mercantes y 150 pesqueros en un solo puerto, casi sin resistencia. Y el apodo "Black Bart" nunca se usó en vida — apareció años después en un poema, como si la leyenda necesitara tiempo para alcanzarlo.

Tres maderas, un barco legendario
Cada madera ha sido seleccionada con un propósito. El tilo ofrece una fibra suave, ideal para el tallado de detalles finos. El nogal africano aporta el tono oscuro y la dureza del casco. Y el sapelli, con su veta rojiza, añade el carácter de las maderas nobles. Juntas, reproducen la combinación de texturas y tonalidades que hacen de esta maqueta una pieza única. Las piezas de latón fotograbado replican con precisión los herrajes y cañones originales, y las velas de algodón cosidas a mano completan una silueta que impone en cualquier estantería.

Mi octavo barco (Polaris, Albatros, Beagle. Buccaneer, Cisne Negro, Fram, Palamos y Royal Fortune). Ya tengo una flota muy bonita.
This is my first adventure in to the world of model wooden ships. Being an ex cabnit maker and working with wood and also been making plastic models for a number of years. It seemed this kit is well withing my skill set and ability. I got the royal fortune as looked a very nice kit to start with and I am impressed with the layout of the kit and the instructions and video tutorials. Inside the box I was met with nice packaging and that wonderful smell of wood and the glistening of metal parts. The ribs went together hassle free and the decking was fairly straightforward but still to attach to the hull. I have no doubt that I will find some bits taxing at times bit I think that is to be expected. As for dealing with occre direct everything went smoothly and was delivered by fed-ex around 5 days later. Only surprise was a hefty 20% vat bill. As could order from a uk shop at occre's rrp making the the kit cheaper by £78 including fed-ex handling charge. Was very disappointed as that extra i could have got the san Felipe. But it has made me worried about buying kits direct instead maybe get them from a uk shop. But all in all fantastic service and a great kit.
Segunda maqueta naval que monto de Occre. Muy contento con el proceso y de como esta quedando la construcción. Las instrucciones en papel a veces son un poco vagas y las fotografias a veces pueden inducir a error si las comparas con los videos de Youtube. En las piezas de montaje, al menos en mi pedido, faltaron dos tablones 2x4x600 nogal africano (se necesitan 4 y solo vienen 2). Recomiendo comprar alambres de laton y cancamos extras porque vienen en cantidades un poco justas. Por lo demás, buenos acabados, material resistente y una buena maqueta para niveles principiantes que quieran un desafio o intermedios que quieran afianzar sus habilidades

Love the kit and everything, only draw.. stuck in customs for a week because customs didnt want to look at the delclaration that was attached..
The model is great, but I wish it came with the tools that it shows are needed. the nail pusher and the device to trim and shape the wood are not included and I didn't know I needed them
All the materials appear to be topnotch. The castings are cleanly cast.
I haven’t started on it yet. I’m still working on the Essex. I’ll send you some pictures when I get started.

Haven't had a chance to start it yet because I do have 2 other current builds taking up room now. When it arrived I did start watching the videos for the Fortune, and can't wait until I can get it started. I will share photos of this and the other ships that I have from Occre. America - sailing yacht, Royal Fortune - Pirate Ship, Terror - Ice Explorer, Flying Dutchman - Mythical ship, San Felipe - Spanish Warship, Amerigo Vespucci - Italian trainer.
