The cruiser that survived the war and two atomic bombs (1938)

The Prinz Eugen, launched at Kiel in 1938, was the heavy cruiser that accompanied the Bismarck on her only Atlantic sortie: together they sank HMS Hood in the Denmark Strait. Detached from the Bismarck days before her end, she survived the whole war — and, in 1946, the two nuclear tests at Bikini. Her capsized hull still shows above the water at a Pacific atoll; one of her propellers went back to Germany as a memorial.
