The wagon that moved Europe (20th century)

This is the wagon that moved Europe. The German covered goods wagon with its brakeman's cabin was built in the tens of thousands — the G 10 type alone ran to more than 120,000 units — and after the wars it ended up spread across the whole continent, still working into the 1970s. The cabin tells the best story: before the continuous air brake, a brakeman rode inside it, winter after winter, turning the brake wheel whenever the locomotive whistled.
