The frigate that became the pattern to copy (1792)

The Diana was launched at Mahón on 10 March 1792, one of the six Mahón frigates. In her trials she outsailed the Soledad, until then the best in the Spanish Navy, and the frigates that followed were built to her plans: the pupil had become the model. She served forty-one years on both sides of the Atlantic — from Roussillon to Havana, hunting privateers in the Antilles — until she was broken up at Cartagena in 1833.

Immerse yourself in the world of ship modelling and enjoy a journey back to the age of these marvellous ships with our kit models.

The frigate Diana was launched on the 10th of March 1792. It formed part of the series of frigates known as "Mahonesas", as they had been built in the city of Mahón.

Thanks to its design, it could sail faster than its predecessors. It took part in the war against France along the Catalan coast although, during the war of Independence, its base was in Cadiz. As a member of the naval forces of Havana, it took part in battles against the corsairs in the Antilles and made various trips across the Atlantic. It was broken up in 1833 in the naval shipyard of Cartagena.

See how, step by step, you can replicate a model down to the finest detail and faithful to the original ship. We invite you to let yourself get carried away and set up spaces for creative leisure in which you can enjoy this marvellous model ship.
