History of the Pirate Ship Buccaneer
“... that my God is freedom;
my law, strength and wind;
my only homeland, the sea.”
“Pirate’s Song” – José de Espronceda (Spanish poet, 1808–1842)
PIRATES AND BUCCANEERS
During the 17th and 18th centuries, the rise and fall of piracy inspired countless legends of hidden treasures and daring exploits. Pirates and buccaneers became known as the true “kings of the sea.”
Operating mainly throughout the Caribbean—the bustling trade route between the Americas and Europe—pirates targeted merchant ships and coastal settlements in search of riches. Buccaneers, meanwhile, often engaged in smuggling, capturing small traders, and trafficking enslaved people.
The Buccaneer model ship could easily have been one of those legendary vessels that roamed the seas. With this wooden model ship kit, you can relive one of the most fascinating and shadowy chapters of maritime history while indulging your passion for model ship modelling.
